App, web UI/UX + print
Client: Body Composition Fitness

Body Composition Fitness (BCF) are a startup wellness service based in Cardiff focusing on clients from the corporate and further education sector.

Involved from a very early stage, I was asked to produce the UX for the promotional and account app areas of their website, alongside various printed and promotional items to support the launch of the business. Thanks to a recent promotion, I had the pleasure of creating an animated typographic video for use on social media.

Once my design concepts for the website were complete, they were passed over to Website Express, a Cardiff-based Drupal development agency.

Website UI design

The top menu is simple, targetting bookings and the three box structure beneath the main image breaks down the body composition message and discusses the use of the service within a business environment. After the initial explanation, the user is then shown more details about the service process and the technology used to evaluate participants.

The promotional page UX was based around a simple message: body composition, rather than weight loss, is a better metric for judging health. After the initial explanation, the user is then shown more details about the service process and the technology used to evaluate participants.

Showing elements from the account area (the app), this section illustrates the feedback system using fun icons and a simple colour scheme which is drawn from the logo.

To finish, pricing details are transparently displayed and a simple contact form invites interactions from potential clients.

As with all web UX work I do, this project was designed to work across all devices in a smooth manner, without sacrificing any information on smaller screen sizes.

App design

Below is the design for the account area of the website. This also formed the basis of the web-based phone app. The progress section shows the week-by-week change of the participant is a clear, simple and branded way.

Promotional materials

To support the launch of the brand, I was asked to design some printed marketing materials for events and other promotional opportunities. The materials needed were a pull-up banner, DL flyer, business card and a poster design which could be adapted quickly and easily for specific locations/markets.

A simple design for a t-shirt worn by staff at both promotional events and client sessions.

The BCF banner was designed to have a strong, but general message so it could be used at any event the team wanted a presence at.

I designed this DL flyer to hand out at a Cardiff University Student Union event. Carefully selected content from the website was added, while adhering to the brand guidelines.

The BCF business card, which follows the branding scheme and contains generic contact information.

The poster was designed so it could be printed at any size and be edited quickly to tailor it to specific events/locations.

£2000 prize promotion

In the runup to Christmas 2018 the BCF team decided to run a challenge competition with a prize of £2000 going to the person who showed the most improvement over a three month period.

This animated banner image was created to be used on social media, hence the 1 x 1 aspect ratio and eyecatching colour usage.

An update to the flyer design to support the £2000 prize promotion.
